Somerset County Federation of Democratic Women (SCFDW) Endorses Manville Mayor Candidate Roberta G Walters and Borough Council Candidates Ashley Neuman and Christine Sokoloski

The Somerset County Federation of Democratic Women is honored to endorse candidate Roberta G Walters for Mayor and candidates Ashley Neuman and Christine Sokoloski for Borough Council in the upcoming November 7, 2023, election.
"Roberta, Ashley, and Christine are committed to serving their community and will do great things when elected in November. Their passion, experience, and work ethic will serve Manville well", said former SCFDW President Margaret Weinberger.
Roberta G Walters comes from a large family of lifelong Manville Residents. In 2012, she moved back to her hometown after living in Virginia and South Carolina. Roberta is employed as a Quality Assurance Manager, and she has been with her company for 29 years. She is experienced in leading large-scale, multimillion-dollar initiatives and building high-performing teams. Her extensive experience has refined her skills and knowledge critical for communicating, managing risk, strategizing, and influencing change. All skills she plans to bring with her to support Manville residents.
Walters is a member of the Manville Recreation Committee and a deputy with OEM as their CART (County Animal Response Team) liaison. During Ida, she oversaw the emergency animal shelter at the High School. She is a volunteer at the Manville Food Pantry and many in town know her best as Bella the therapy dog’s mom from her work at the library and schools.
Ashley Neuman has been a resident of Manville since 2016. She spent 4 years working as a hairstylist in Somerville and now works as an Office Manager for a local Funeral Home.
Ashley runs the successful podcast, Always the Last to Know, in which she and her co-host discuss history and current events and provide information for their listeners to get involved in local and national community activism of all kinds. She uses the podcast and her personal platform to bring attention to matters such as the impact of climate change on communities, human rights violations, voting rights, and social issues.
In recent years, Ashley has focused on community action in Manville. She participated in several food drives, is a volunteer with the Manville Food Pantry, and spearheaded the 2022 "Manville Celebrates Pride" event.
Christine Sokoloski has been a resident of Manville for over 2 decades. She holds a BA in Journalism and an MS in technical communication and is currently a Creative Director at a healthcare advertising agency.
Christine is very active in her community. She is a member of CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), the Manville Arts Council, and is a volunteer with the Manville Food Pantry. Christine is also very active with the Red Cross as a volunteer and was instrumental in organizing the Hurricane Preparedness event In June. When not working or volunteering, you can often find Christine jogging or biking through the Valley, hiking in the Sourlands, or on a yoga mat finding her inner peace.
